We survey before we propose
A measured survey costs a fortnight and settles arguments that would otherwise run for months. Almost every interesting decision on an existing building is forced by something already there — a beam in the wrong place, a floor that steps, a window that cannot legally move — and none of those are visible from a photograph.

One set of drawings
There is a single set and it is the one on site. Revisions go into it the day they are agreed, by whoever drew it originally. It sounds procedural, but most of the expensive mistakes we have watched happen came from two versions of the truth being on the table at once.

We are there at the end
The last five percent — where the reveal dies into the frame, where the services come through, what the junction actually looks like when built rather than drawn — is the part most likely to be delegated. It is not delegated here.

Graham Wesley
Director
Founded the practice in 2018 after eleven years in two larger offices. Draws every project's sections himself, which is either a discipline or a habit.
Nell Ashworth
Associate
Runs the cultural work and most of the planning arguments. Came from a conservation background and it shows in what she refuses to remove.
Idris Bekele
Architect
Houses, and the technical package on everything else. The person a contractor rings when the drawing and the building disagree.
Wren Calloway
Architectural assistant
Surveys, models and the drawing set. Has been on every site the practice has had since she arrived.
